2021. Well didn’t that just fly by?

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

A partridge in a pear tree. Again. It’s probably time for a word with Santa. Still, 2021 turned out to be a lot less predictable than our festive present haul. 

Like everyone else, we’ve been locked down, up and sideways for spells this year. And after long stints of home working, our 2021 highlight has undoubtedly been getting the team back together at LEAP HQ. Room smiles definitely shine brighter than Zoom smiles!

The enforced out of office required creative adjustments, and thinking outside the box took a literal twist with clients unpacking our home video kits. With some live virtual art direction, recruitment videos and thought leadership clips took socially-distanced shape, ready to take the small screen by storm. 

When we got to resume in-person filming, a two day video and photo shoot for CGI and their brilliant graduate and apprenticeship scheme was the perfect way to get back behind the camera ourselves. 

Roger shared some industry love at the Recruitment Marketing Awards, judging entries and dishing out gongs at a swanky London ceremony. It’s his fourth year as a judge and while we know he’s invited because of his years of experience at the cutting edge of employer branding, we also know he accepts because he gets to wear a bow tie and pretend he’s James Bond. 

We built some seriously diverse websites this year, with clients including Chichester Cinema and Film Festival, the automation experts Tocalabs, and Quora Consulting. The range of our partners’ interests has kept us learning, creatively inspired, and extended our pub quiz specialisms into jazz documentaries, AI culture, and future workplace efficiency paradigms (well, you never know). 

A change to the management team saw Sara MacGregor and Roger Cayless taking hold of the LEAP leadership reins, as Managing Director and Group Creative Director respectively. Kelly Newton is now our Project Delivery Director.

And the dream team building continued as we welcomed, Rabin Gharti-Magar as Front-End Developer, Rachael Hoffman as Quality Assurance Coordinator, and Ben Grove into our Creative Design team. A veritable Panini sticker album/Pokemon card deck of talent. 

2021 reaffirmed the value of apprenticeships for early careers. The newly *national award nominated* Taylor Setterfield was promoted to Account Manager. And Hannah Carrington, with us as a second year apprentice from The University of Chichester, bagged top marks for her first year efforts. 

All of us are committed to avoiding thumb twiddling while Rome burns and Chichester floods, and have embarked on our own green journey to net zero. We’ll be sharing our successes and misfires as we go, so watch this space. 

And finally, New Year… new us! In January, LEAP Chichester becomes LEAP Create. We’ll be refocused, realigned and refreshed, and aiming to be the best people communications agency you can partner with. With the best office biscuits to boot.
