It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…

By Hannah Carrington

Who could have predicted that 2020 would be the year that nan and gramps became the Zoom, Teams and Skype experts of the family, as the world hunkered down and made the best of socially distanced life.

Although it’s unlikely that many will cherish its memory, 2020 and the COVID 19 pandemic has forced all of us to think carefully about our priorities and values in life, and find creative new ways of working together.

This year’s LEAP review finds us counting our blessings. We’re grateful for our good health and thankful for our amazing clients, who have given us plenty to be proud of in difficult times. Looking forward to 2021 we’re brim-full of optimism, energy and ideas, and can’t wait to get started on new projects with you.

And here’s how it went…

Back in February we didn’t know that an extra day in 2020 wouldn’t be top of most people’s wishlist, but we had fun making cocktails with our very own 10 Lords a-LEAP gin.

And – once we’d sobered up, of course – we created a new label identity and design for our friends at the wonderful Marlow Gin Distillery.

LBL (Life Before Lockdown) saw Roger and Sara head to the US for a creative retreat with our partners at the employer branding specialists, exaqueo. Yes, we know, a retreat from the office. It’s ok, you can write your own punchline. 2020 didn’t skimp on ironies.

Our “Shining a spotlight” campaign for CGI was a great LDBL (Last Days Before Lockdown) initiative, creating a platform for women at the company to share their inspiring career stories on International Women’s Day.

This time last year we were celebrating moving into new offices and looking forward to making the most of our creative based in Chichester. It’s a bit of a groundhog day feeling, but we have the same enthusiasm this year, and are optimistic that 2021 won’t be as determined to keep us away.

As digital communication experts, we felt a responsibility to be more Zoom and boom and less Zoom and doom while working from home. Our WFH blog was an antidote to the cabin fever many folks were feeling.

As well as producing COVID 19 print work for clients, we also rustled up handy downloadable guides with tips for being productive with reduced resources.

An online cook-off brought the LEAP team, clients, old colleagues, and even our local pub manager, in a weekly gastronomic get-together which dished-up show-stopping culinary triumphs and a few soggy-bottomed disasters.

It also unleashed some unlikely inner chefs. Watch out Jamie Oliver! (Seriously, watch out Jamie – you wouldn’t want to trifle with some of these characters).

Throughout LBL, LDBL and LIL (Life In-between Lockdowns) we continued to deliver inventive and engaging digital and print projects for our partners, meeting the challenges of 2020’s new and ever-changing normal together.

We welcomed Kerri and Hannah to the LEAP family to strengthen our creative design and digital marketing teams…

… and we pitched them into our LULA (Life Under Lockdown, Again) LEAP Lockdown Recorder Orchestra challenge. Our virtual carol concert performance of Silent Night had partners and families crying out for more – silent nights that is.

And on that festive note, all of us at LEAP wish you the merriest Christmas that can be mustered, and a New Year that promises brighter days ahead.

We learned a lot about ourselves this year and developed skills we didn’t know we had. Our resolution is to make the most of them in 2021, so if you have a project you’d like to discuss, get in touch and let’s create something special.

Our door is always open.

Let's talk.
